 About the Human Appeal Organization

The Humanitarian Appeal is a British humanitarian, non-governmental and non-profit organization operating in 25 countries around the world since 1991. It has been operating in Iraq since 2016. It currently has approximately 400 staff in numerous locations in Iraq, including Erbil, Dohuk, Nineveh, Anbar and Salah al-Din Kirkuk and Baghdad. The country office of the Iraqi Human Appeal Organization is located in Erbil and has branch offices in Mosul, Tikrit, Baghdad and Ana. Provided and delivered more than $50 million in humanitarian aid and early recovery in 2017-2018. It operates in a number of thematic sectors: primarily in protection; shelter and non-food items; food security and livelihoods; wash; and education. Major donors to an organization include the United Nations Development Programme, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, the World Food Program and many other international institutional partners

Position Summary:
This position will facilitate the management of programs and operations to implement logistics and fleet plans as instructed by the supervisor. S/he will be responsible for the smooth implementation of the project related travel plan/standard procedures for the transportation of staff or cargo and as per Human Appeal requirements.

 

Main responsibilities :       

Ensure the transportation of humanitarian appeal staff and goods to and from the field of activities (Anbar, Diyala and Kirkuk) with frequent travel to the Mosul and Erbil offices.

Ability to work weekends if required as per Logistics department requirements and will be compensated.

The Driver will ensure that all logs and vehicle records are kept up to date as per the requirements of the Senior Logistics Officer.

Ensuring the safety of all passengers in the vehicle while driving, including the use of seat belts by all passengers before any movement of vehicles.

The Driver will always follow Human Call Security Standard Operating Procedures relating to the safety and security of themselves, their passengers, load and other road users, and the Driver will follow communication schedules dictated by the Human Call Security Coordinator.

Ensure that all required documents are on board the vehicles, appropriate equipment, and appropriate fuel and oil prior to any use

Report any defect or malfunction in the vehicle, request service, repairs, fuel, oils, spare parts, etc. in a timely manner. .

Ability to work in a multicultural environment.

Receiving visitors at the airport(s) and then taking them to the accommodation/hotel/guesthouse/venue, etc.

Ensures all required documents/supplies including first aid and necessary spare parts are available.

Perform any other task assigned by the Senior Procurement and Logistics Officer

Work environment :
• The driver is present in the offices of the human appeal with travels based on the files required for other offices according to the needs.

• The working time is from Sunday to Thursday. Each day contains 8 and a half hours, with a 30-minute lunch break.

Car type:
• Provide a modern car, preferably 2017 or older.

Vehicle Safety Equipment:
Comprehensive first aid kit.

A fire extinguisher installed in the car, with a validity of no less than (6) months.

Warning triangle.

Rolling seat belts for all seats.

Headrests for all seats.

Spare wheel.

Towing/pulling rope

Vehicle cleanliness and appearance:

Ensure vehicle maintenance by checking its condition weekly.

· Alert the direct supervisor in case of any technical problems.

Ensure that the vehicle is equipped with safety and security materials, and that safety and security protocol is always followed.

Check the car before using it in the morning and after using it.

Have the vehicle inspected before leaving work.

Ensure that the vehicle is checked for fuel, water, oil, tire pressure and required repairs on a regular basis.

Ensure that the car is always clean from the outside and inside and remove all rubbish from it after the trip

Qualifications & requirements

Knowledge/Work Experience:

  • Valid driver's license.
  • Previous work experience as a driver in local or international NGOs and/or companies (if any)
  • Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly.
  • Excellent knowledge of the local area
  • A clean driving record/record.
  • Security and safety rules and traffic rules.

Language Skills:

  • Have good communication skills and can communicate in Arabic (Native Arabic is mandatory).

Contract Duration: 4 Months Starting Date: August 2023 K.O

Important :

 Candidates must specify the area in which they want to work because each driver will work in one place only (Erbil, Anbar, Diyala, Kirkuk).
